I’m appalled by the abysmal level of service I received from Cathay Pacific, an airline that claims to be reputable. On July 9th at Chicago O’Hare (ORD), I arrived at the counter just 1 hour and 5 minutes before departure—still well within a reasonable timeframe, especially since I had already checked in online and held a valid digital boarding pass. I only needed to drop off one checked bag, yet the counter was inexplicably closed.

Calling customer care was equally frustrating. Rather than offering any meaningful assistance, they focused on rebooking me for the next day—at an additional cost.

While still on the call, someone from the local ORD counter contacted me asking where I was. I explained the situation and pleaded for help, requesting that someone come assist me so I could make the flight. They refused—showing zero compassion or flexibility.

Because of their rigid and indifferent handling of the situation, I lost three valuable days of my vacation and was forced to pay nearly the full original fare just to fly out the next day. This experience was infuriating, costly, and a complete failure of the service I expected from Cathay Pacific.
