Zelle is a digital payments network that enables U.S. consumers and small businesses to send and receive money directly between bank accounts using an email address or U.S. mobile phone number. It is operated by Early Warning Services, LLC, a fintech company owned by seven major U.S. banks: Bank of America, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, PNC Bank, Truist, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo. As of April 1, 2025, Zelle discontinued its standalone mobile app; the service is now available exclusively through participating banks and credit unions.
