Cash App’s privacy notice (effective March 11, 2026) describes how Block, Inc. collects, uses, and shares personal information when users access Cash App or its website. Acceptable use policy
Cash App’s acceptable use policy describes the activities prohibited on the platform. These include fraud, gambling, hacking, selling illegal or regulated substances, facilitating transactions with sanctioned countries or individuals, using the service for unauthorized financial products, and engaging in bullying or harassment. The policy notes that violations may result in account suspension or closure, and that the listed prohibited activities are representative but not exhaustive.

Cash App’s terms of service (last updated April 27, 2026) govern use of the Cash App platform, including account opening, the Cash App balance and prepaid card, peer-to-peer transfers, the Cash Card, bitcoin and investing services, Cash App Lending, direct deposit, and dispute resolution. The terms include a mandatory arbitration clause and a limitation of liability provision. Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Cash App is required to investigate unauthorized transaction claims.
What does the CFPB's January 2025 settlement with Block mean for Cash App users?
In January 2025, the CFPB ordered Block to pay up to $120 million to consumers whose unauthorized transaction claims were not properly investigated, and a separate $55 million penalty. Affected users may be eligible for a refund. Cash App has stated it has improved its fraud investigation and customer support practices since the period covered by the settlement. What should I do if my Cash App account is locked or closed?
If your account is locked, open the app and follow any prompts to verify your identity. If you cannot regain access, contact Cash App support at (800) 969-1940 or through the in-app support feature. Cash App may lock accounts flagged for suspicious activity, identity verification issues, or policy violations. If your account is permanently closed, Cash App states that remaining funds can typically be withdrawn during a limited window after closure.
How do I know if a Cash App support contact is legitimate?
Cash App will never ask for your PIN, sign-in code, Social Security number, or full debit card number by phone, email, or text. Legitimate Cash App email addresses end in @cash.app, @squareup.com, or @square.com. If someone contacts you claiming to be Cash App support and asks for sensitive information, do not comply — report the contact directly to Cash App at cash.app/contact.
What should I do if Cash App Borrow charged me for an amount I did not receive?
