  1. Teacher Loan Forgiveness
  • Eligibility: Teaching full-time for five consecutive academic years at a low-income elementary or secondary school or an educational service agency.
  • Amount: You may qualify for up to $5,000 in forgiveness.
    • If you meet the criteria as a “highly qualified teacher,” you could be eligible for up to $17,500.
  • Applies to: Direct Loans or Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) loans.
  1. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
  • Eligibility: Working full-time for a government or non-profit organization.
  • Requirements:
    • Make 120 qualifying monthly payments under an approved repayment plan.
