Starbucks

Starbucks is an American coffeehouse chain headquartered in Seattle. The original Starbucks store was founded in 1971 by Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bowker, and Zev Siegl. The company that became Starbucks Corporation was incorporated in 1985 (originally as Il Giornale Coffee Company, founded by Howard Schultz), acquired the original Starbucks in 1987, and adopted the Starbucks name. It went public on the Nasdaq under the ticker SBUX on June 26, 1992. Today, Starbucks operates more than 41,000 company-operated and licensed stores across approximately 89 markets worldwide (where “markets” include countries and territories in company reporting).
