IKEA gets one star because NEGATIVE Stars are not an option. I have been working since March 9, 2026 to obtain a refund on an item and have been unsuccessful. I have emailed Mr. Quinones office and received a call back from --I believe her name was Charmaine, who promised she was going to take care of this and would update me on the status soon. I have heard nothing more and a daily email to Mr Quinones is going unanswered. This began when I was in the NEW store in Huntsville, AL and purchased several items, one of which had to be ordered. A gentleman at the customer service desk in the store told me that he could enter the order, take my payment and place the order for me. He said it would be delivered to the store and that I would need to pick it up within three days of the time I was notified it arrived. I paid with my debit card in the store that day. Before I was out of the parking lot of the store, I received a text message telling me that I had to pay for my item by the end of the day or the order would be cancelled. WHAT...I just paid for it and had my receipt to verify that it was paid for. I did not go back in the store at that time because we were in the middle of an excessively heavy rain storm, but called the customer service number listed on the receipt the next day. They said they would send a message to the local store as the store does not have a phone available for customer calls. RED FLAG #1, no way for a customer to call direct to the store! OK, send the message and ask the manager to call me. Manager does not respond. I made multiple calls to this Customer service number and every call resulted in different information being provided to me and provided me clarity that the Customer service Department has no clue what is going on. That phone number is 888-888-4532. After days of frustration, I find the email for the CEO- Mr. Quinones and send a message to that address, Charmaine very quickly responds by phone to my email, She listens to my concerns and says she will check into this and call me back with a resolution. When I am called back it is to tell me that the Huntsville, AL store is set up only to sell, not to make refunds. WHAT??? You can take my money but if you have oversold the product and it is not available, you can not issue me a refund. She verifies that the policy is exactly that. IKEAS website says for a refund to take your receipt to an IKEA store--I guess they need to add a note that this does not apply to Huntsville, AL. I was told that the only think that I could do was to provide my bank account information to the ATLANTA store over the phone and they could make the refund to my card. NOT HAPPENING. Too many scams out there. You have been provided with my transaction number and you can see the information. Every other company can take your receipt and issue a refund from that without needing to be provided the information or card again. The other option is to have a paper check mailed, which clearly Charmaine did not want to deal with, however I refused to give my banking info over the phone and requested a paper check be mailed to me. I ask for a timeline of when to expect this and was given a runaround by Charmaine with no clear answer. I have sent six emails requesting updates and have had not one single response to those. IKEA clearly does not care about their customers and I am beginning to believe that I have been scammed by them. So because the lowest star rating I can give is a 1, I have done so, but in reality they are a Minus 10 Stars. Worst Customer service ever.
