CLEAR offers a rapid identity verification process at the airport, while TSA PreCheck is a U.S. government initiative identifying travelers as low-risk by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Many users discover that these services work well together.
CLEAR conducts various checks on the information you provide to verify your identity. These checks may involve confirming that the photo on your ID corresponds with your selfie, assessing the risk of device fraud, or, in instances of Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance, ensuring your information is not listed on a sanctions roster.
CLEAR's High Assurance Mobile Enrollment has been endorsed by industry experts at the Kantara Initiative at Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL2). Additionally, CLEAR has been evaluated by the TSA and found to comply with the NIST 800-53 HIGH baseline for security and privacy controls.
To add or remove family members from your CLEAR account, you can use the following steps: To add family members:
  1. Log in to your CLEAR account here.
  2. You can include up to 3 family members or friends to your account for $99 each.
  3. Family members under 18 can always accompany you in the CLEAR lane for free.
  4. If you wish to add an existing CLEAR PLUS member, contact CLEAR’s member care team with the following details:
    • Full name
    • Date of birth
    • Email address associated with their CLEAR Plus Membership
    • The email address is associated with your CLEAR Plus Membership.
To remove family members:
  1. You can remove any family member by selecting “deactivate” next to their name.
  2. If you wish to re-include them, select “reactivate.”
  3. To update the email address associated with a family membership, select “edit” next to the active family member and update the email address there.
You can sign up for CLEAR online on the CLEAR website or at a CLEAR enrollment center. You will need to provide personal information and a valid ID.
A valid government-issued photo ID, such as a passport or driver's license, is required for CLEAR enrollment.
At the airport, locate the CLEAR lane at the security checkpoint. A CLEAR ambassador will verify your identity using biometric data, and you will be escorted to the front of the security line.
