IndiGo customer service policies

Privacy policy

IndiGo’s privacy policy describes how the airline collects, uses, shares, and stores personal information provided through its website, mobile app, call center, and airport touchpoints. It covers booking and check-in data, payment details, contact information, and information shared with travel partners, code-share carriers, government authorities, and service providers. The policy explains cookies and tracking, how customers can update or correct their data, and how IndiGo handles cross-border transfers.

Refund and cancellation policy

IndiGo’s cancellation page sets out change and cancellation fees for domestic and international tickets. Customers can cancel up to 3 hours before a domestic flight and 4 hours before an international flight; charges depend on fare type, route, and timing. A 48-hour “Look-in” window allows free changes on bookings made directly on goindigo.in when departure is at least seven days away (domestic) or fifteen days away (international). Refunds for cancelled tickets are processed to the original payment method, typically within seven working days, after applicable fees.

Conditions of carriage

IndiGo’s conditions of carriage form the contract between the airline and passengers. They cover booking and ticketing, fares and taxes, check-in deadlines, baggage allowances, denied boarding, no-show charges, refunds, and the airline’s liability for delays, cancellations, lost baggage, and code-share flights. Separate international conditions apply to international routes. Disputes are governed by Indian law, with provisions referencing the Montreal Convention for international carriage.

How do I check in for my IndiGo flight?

Use IndiGo’s web check-in page to check in online and download your boarding pass. Web check-in opens 48 hours before a domestic flight and 24 hours before an international flight, and closes 60 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 75 minutes before for international flights.

How do I check my IndiGo flight status?

Track real-time arrival and departure times on the flight status page using your PNR or route and date. The IndiGo mobile app and 6Eskai on WhatsApp also return live flight status; IndiGo additionally sends SMS and email updates to the contact details on the booking.

How do I change or cancel my IndiGo booking?

Visit manage booking and enter your PNR and last name to retrieve your itinerary. From there, you can change flights, cancel, request a refund, or apply a credit shell, subject to fare rules and IndiGo’s cancellation charges.

How do I request a refund or check refund status?

Open the refunds page to read refund rules and timelines, or use manage booking to start a cancellation and choose between a refund to the original payment method or a credit shell. Refunds typically take up to seven working days to reach the original payment method.

How do I report lost or damaged baggage?

File a report at the IndiGo arrivals desk before leaving the airport, then follow up by writing to customer.relations@goindigo.in with your Property Irregularity Report (PIR) number. IndiGo’s baggage policy explains allowances, prohibited items, and compensation under the conditions of carriage.

How do I file a complaint or share feedback?

Use the customer feedback form to submit a complaint, compliment, or suggestion. If the customer experience team does not resolve your issue, escalate to the nodal officer at nodalofficer@goindigo.in, then to the appellate authority at appellateauthority@goindigo.in. Indian travellers can also escalate to AirSewa, the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s grievance portal.

How do I join or manage my IndiGo BluChip account?

Join or sign in at the BluChip program page to track your IndiGo BluChips balance, view tier status, update nominees, and redeem points for IndiGo flights.

How do I book an IndiGo flight by phone?

How do I get a refund for an IndiGo flight cancelled in December 2025?

IndiGo says all refunds for flights cancelled between December 3 and December 5, 2025, were fully processed to the original payment method, according to a January 16, 2026 update confirmed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. If your refund is still missing, log in to manage booking and check refund status, then escalate by writing to customer.experience@goindigo.in with your PNR. If the booking was made through a travel agent, IndiGo says the agent should initiate the refund.

Am I entitled to compensation for an IndiGo flight cancelled during the December 2025 disruption?

Yes, in many cases. Under DGCA Civil Aviation Requirement Section 3, Series M, Part IV, IndiGo is required to pay ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 in compensation depending on the cancelled flight’s block time. IndiGo separately offered a goodwill voucher worth up to ₹10,000 to passengers “severely impacted” by cancellations or delays of more than three hours between December 3 and 5, 2025, valid for IndiGo travel within 12 months. The DGCA also imposed a ₹22.2 crore (about $2.6 million) penalty on IndiGo in January 2026 for the December disruptions.

What happened during the December 2025 IndiGo crisis?

Starting December 2, 2025, IndiGo cancelled nearly 4,500 flights over ten days after struggling to adjust crew rosters to new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules from the DGCA. The disruption affected more than one million passengers; the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a show-cause notice, the Delhi High Court ordered IndiGo to begin passenger compensation, and the Competition Commission of India took cognisance of complaints. Operations were largely restored by mid-December, and CEO Pieter Elbers resigned on March 10, 2026.

Why did the IndiGo "Cancel" button not work in the app during the crisis?

Multiple passengers reported on social media that the “Cancel” button was disabled in the IndiGo app on December 6, 2025, even though IndiGo had publicly committed to full refunds with no questions asked. The Ministry of Civil Aviation then directed IndiGo to complete refunds for cancelled flights by the following evening and not to levy rescheduling charges on affected passengers. If you cannot cancel in the app, write to customer.experience@goindigo.in or use the feedback form with your PNR.

How do I escalate an unresolved IndiGo complaint?

Start with the IndiGo feedback form or email customer.relations@goindigo.in. If you do not get a satisfactory response, write to the nodal officer at nodalofficer@goindigo.in, then to the appellate authority at appellateauthority@goindigo.in. As a last resort, file a grievance through the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s AirSewa portal.

Have airfares changed after the IndiGo crisis?

Yes, briefly. As fares on other carriers surged during the IndiGo disruption, the central government announced caps on airfares and the Delhi High Court flagged the airfare spike on December 10, 2025. The caps were temporary and tied to the crisis period. Air India publicly responded to viral screenshots showing high fares during the same window.

Indigo made me show the Credit card that I purchased the Ticket a year ago for a trip frm Delhi to Leh. Needles to say I did not have this Card with me. Thge ticket was purchased through Expedia and paid for. I had to pay for a second Ticket and was told that i get the money back for the first Ticket. After calling now multible different numbers i was told that I missed this fligth and therefore will not get any money back. Be aware of INDIGO when you travel. Worst experience ever on my international travels.
