Visit the Facebook help center to find answers to common questions and issues related to your account, settings, privacy, security, marketplace, groups, and pages.

How do I recover my Facebook account if it's been hacked?

If you suspect your Facebook account has been hacked, follow these steps to recover it:

  1. Identify the issue: Look for signs like changed email/password, unusual friend requests/messages/posts.
  2. Secure your account: Visit Facebook’s help center, change your password, and review recent logins.
  3. Report the issue: If you suspect hacking, report it through Facebook’s compromised account page.
  4. Recover your account: If you can’t log in, visit the profile, click “find support or report profile,” select “something else,” then “recover this account,” and follow the steps.

What should I do if I encounter a fake Facebook account pretending to be me?

If you come across a fake Facebook account impersonating you, follow these steps to report it:

  1. Find the fake profile: Search for the profile using the name or ask friends to send you a link to it.
  2. Report the profile: Click on “find support or report profile” below the cover photo.
  3. Follow instructions: Go through the on-screen instructions to report the fake profile.

If you don’t have a Facebook account or have lost access to yours, you can still report impersonating pages or accounts by filling out a contact form.

How do I report a post or profile for violating Facebook's community standards?

If you spot a post or profile on Facebook that you think breaches community standards, follow these steps to report it:
  1. Go to the post or profile: Locate the specific post or profile you want to report.
  2. Click on the right side: Click on the three dots (ellipsis) found to the right of the post or profile.
  3. Find support or report: From the dropdown menu, select “find support or report.”
  4. Choose the violation: Pick the option that best describes how the post or profile violates Facebook’s community standards.

When you report something, your information remains confidential and isn’t shared with the person whose post or profile you’re reporting.

Can I retrieve deleted messages or photos on Facebook?

Yes, you can retrieve deleted messages or photos on Facebook under certain conditions:

  1. Archived conversations: If you archived instead of deleting a conversation, you can recover it. Open Messenger, tap your profile photo, go to archived chats, swipe left on the deleted conversation, and tap “unarchive.”
  2. Ask the other person: If you deleted the conversation, the other person might still have it. You can ask them to send you a screenshot.
  3. Check your downloaded data: If you’ve downloaded your Facebook data, you might have copies of your messages in the archive.

If you permanently deleted a conversation, Facebook doesn’t offer a way to recover it. Similarly, once you delete photos from Facebook, they’re permanently gone and cannot be recovered.

How do I change my privacy settings on Facebook?

To adjust your privacy settings on Facebook, here’s what you do:

  1. Click on your profile picture at the top right of Facebook.
  2. Choose “settings & privacy” and then click “Settings.”
  3. Under “audience and visibility,” select the option you wish to modify for privacy.

What should I do if I'm being harassed or bullied on Facebook?

If you’re facing harassment or bullying on Facebook, here’s what you can do:

  1. Unfriend or block: Remove the person from your friends list or block their profile to prevent them from contacting you or viewing your content.
  2. Report: Report the person or any abusive content they post. Facebook takes action against content that violates their community standards.
  3. Don’t retaliate: Avoid responding to the bully as they may be seeking a reaction from you.
  4. Talk to someone: Reach out to a trusted friend, family member, counselor, or teacher for support and advice.
  5. Document: Keep a record of any abusive content by taking screenshots or printing it out. This can be helpful if you need to share it with someone you trust or with authorities.

Additionally, you can visit Facebook’s bullying prevention hub for more information, tools, and resources. If you feel you’re in immediate danger, contact your local authorities for assistance.
