Returning items bought online from Barnes & Noble:

  • You have 30 days from the delivery date to return items if you’re not happy with your purchase.
  • Items must be in their original condition; unopened if they’re shrink-wrapped or sealed.
  • Shipping fees won’t be refunded.

Return to a Barnes & Noble store:

  • Take the item, your packing slip, or shipping confirmation email, and your original payment method to any Barnes & Noble store.
  • If you paid with PayPal, you’ll get store credit in the form of a Barnes & Noble gift card or in-store credit.

Ship your return:

  • Follow instructions on the packing slip.
  • Use the pre-printed return label provided.
  • If you don’t have the slip, print the Shipping Confirmation email and include it in the box.
  • Write your Order Number on the outside of the box.

  • You’ll need to pay for return shipping as the packing slip isn’t a prepaid label.
  • If you’re returning a gift purchased on bn.com, you’ll get a Barnes & Noble gift card within 60 days.

  • Return new and unread/unopened items within 30 days of purchase with a store sales receipt for a full refund, including taxes.
