If you want a refund from Barnes & Noble, follow these steps:
Returning items bought online from Barnes & Noble:
- You have 30 days from the delivery date to return items if you’re not happy with your purchase.
- Items must be in their original condition; unopened if they’re shrink-wrapped or sealed.
- Shipping fees won’t be refunded.
Return to a Barnes & Noble store:
- Take the item, your packing slip, or shipping confirmation email, and your original payment method to any Barnes & Noble store.
- If you paid with PayPal, you’ll get store credit in the form of a Barnes & Noble gift card or in-store credit.
Ship your return:
- Follow instructions on the packing slip.
- Use the pre-printed return label provided.
- If you don’t have the slip, print the Shipping Confirmation email and include it in the box.
- Write your Order Number on the outside of the box.

- You’ll need to pay for return shipping as the packing slip isn’t a prepaid label.
- If you’re returning a gift purchased on bn.com, you’ll get a Barnes & Noble gift card within 60 days.
