What is Apria Healthcare's privacy policy?
Apria Healthcare’s privacy policy covers how the company collects, uses, and shares personal information gathered through its website and online services, including Apria.com and My.Apria.com. It collects contact details, account information, delivery and scheduling data, and technical data such as browsing behaviour and device information via cookies and third-party tools. That information is used to process orders, manage accounts, and send marketing communications. Personal health information governed by HIPAA is handled separately under Apria’s HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. Apria may share data with service providers and third parties but does not sell personal information. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA. The policy was last updated February 26, 2025.

I received a data breach notice from Apria Healthcare. Am I eligible for a settlement payment?
Apria suffered two separate cyberattacks, in 2019 and 2021, that exposed the personal and health information of approximately 1.87 million patients. A $6.375 million class-action settlement received preliminary approval in June 2025; the claims deadline was October 22, 2025, and the final approval hearing was scheduled for November 4, 2025. If you missed the deadline, contact the settlement administrator Kroll at (833) 890-6558 or write to In re Apria Data Breach Litigation, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, P.O. Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391 to ask whether late claims are being accepted. Regardless of the settlement, place a credit freeze with Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion and monitor your health insurance statements for fraudulent activity.
Apria Healthcare converted my rented equipment to a purchase without my permission and sent me to collections. What can I do?
A 2025 BBB complaint documents Apria automatically converting unreturned rented equipment to a purchase and referring the resulting balance to a collections agency — in one case nine months after the rental began with no warning. If this has happened to you, contact Apria’s billing department in writing immediately at (888) 492-7742 and request that the collection referral be paused while the dispute is investigated. Send a certified letter to Apria Healthcare, 26220 Enterprise Court, Lake Forest, CA 92630, documenting the timeline and requesting written confirmation that the collection agency has been instructed to hold. If the collection entry has already appeared on your credit report, you have the right to dispute it directly with the three credit bureaus while your complaint is pending.
Apria Healthcare billed the wrong insurance and now says I owe the full amount. What are my rights?
Multiple 2025 reviews on Trustpilot and ConsumerAffairs describe Apria Healthcare billing the wrong insurance, taking months to correct the error, and then referring patients to collections while the billing dispute was still unresolved. You are not required to pay a bill that results from a provider’s billing error. Request an itemized statement in writing and ask Apria to provide written confirmation of what was billed to each insurer and on what dates. If the error has been referred to collections, file a written dispute with the collection agency within 30 days of first contact — this pauses collection activity while the debt is verified. File a complaint with your state insurance commissioner if Apria Healthcare refuses to correct the error.
How do I get an itemized bill from Apria Healthcare?
Patients have a legal right to an itemized statement of all charges under the No Surprises Act and most state laws. Call Apria Healthcare’s billing line at (888) 492-7742 and specifically request an itemized bill — not a summary — in writing. If the billing department does not provide one within 30 days, escalate in writing to Apria Healthcare’s Patient Satisfaction department at (800) 260-8808 and copy the corporate address (26220 Enterprise Court, Lake Forest, CA 92630). If you are a Medicare patient and believe you have been billed incorrectly, you can also file a complaint with your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) or 1-800-MEDICARE at (800) 633-4227.
I cannot get through to Apria Healthcare customer service. What else can I do?
Apria’s hold times are consistently reported as 30–45 minutes or longer, with calls sometimes dropped before reaching an agent. If you cannot get through by phone, send your issue in writing by certified mail to Apria Healthcare, 26220 Enterprise Court, Lake Forest, CA 92630, and email the relevant zone executive directly — Debra Morris for the eastern US (debra.morris@apria.com), Jeffrey Newnham for the west (jeffrey.newnham@apria.com), or Matthew Effinger for the north central region (matthew.effinger@apria.com). If your issue is urgent and involves medical equipment you depend on for your health, contact your doctor’s office and ask them to intervene directly with Apria’s physician relations line at (800) 260-8808, as physician calls are often escalated faster than patient calls.
