Changing the rules of engagement (for the better, let’s hope)

It’s been an interesting few months for this site. Late last year we introduced a crew of volunteer moderators and a few simple rules of engagement.

But like everything else, both the rules and the roles played by the moderators evolved.

Today, I’m proposing to clarify some of the rules of engagement and to more clearly define what the moderators do.

Until now, we’ve had a very succinct comment policy and no real definition of moderator duties.

Travel planning 101: “Make sure there’s shopping! Lots of shopping.”

In episode 3 of our family travel adventure, our six-year-old explains how to choose an appropriate family destination. Topping her list: warm weather (after all, it’s January) playgrounds, and shopping — lots of shopping!

Any 10-year-old can plan a trip, right?

Last week, our middle son tried to hit the road by himself. He didn’t make it very far. In episode two of our Away is Home family travel blog series, his big brother explains that it takes more to plan a trip. And he takes him everywhere while trying to explain it.
