Venmo customer service policies

What is Venmo's privacy policy?

Venmo collects personal information including your name, contact details, financial information, and transaction history. This data is used to process payments, verify identity, prevent fraud, and for targeted advertising. Venmo shares user data with PayPal, third-party service providers, and in some cases, other users — since transactions and social activity are visible to others by default unless privacy settings are manually adjusted. Users can limit some data sharing through the app’s privacy settings.

What are Venmo's Terms of Service?

Venmo’s terms of service outline that the platform is available only to US residents aged 18 and older. Users are prohibited from using Venmo for business transactions unless operating a registered Venmo Business Profile. Venmo reserves the right to freeze or close accounts at its discretion, and can reverse or hold payments suspected of fraud or policy violations. Users agree that Venmo is not a bank and that funds held in a Venmo balance are not FDIC-insured unless enrolled in specific programs. Venmo also limits its liability for any losses resulting from unauthorized transactions or service disruptions, and disputes must be resolved through binding arbitration rather than court action.

How do I cancel a payment on Venmo?

Venmo payments are processed instantly and generally cannot be cancelled once sent. However, if the recipient has not yet accepted the payment, you may be able to cancel it by going to your transaction history, selecting the pending payment, and tapping “take back.” For further assistance, visit help.venmo.com

How do I dispute an unauthorized charge on Venmo?

If you notice an unauthorized transaction on your Venmo account, you should immediately change your password and PIN, then report the issue through the app by going to get help disputes. You can also contact Venmo support directly at (855) 812-4430. For full guidance on opening a dispute, visit help.venmo.com

How do I get a refund from Venmo?

Venmo does not automatically issue refunds for completed payments. If you sent money to the wrong person or for the wrong amount, you will need to request the money back directly from the recipient through the app. If the transaction involved a purchase from a Venmo-enabled merchant, you can open a dispute by visiting help.venmo.com
