Truist
Truist Financial Corporation is a U.S. bank holding company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Truist brand was formed following the merger of BB&T and SunTrust Banks: the merger was announced on February 7, 2019, received regulatory approval on November 19, 2019, and closed on December 6, 2019 (with completion announced on December 9, 2019). The combined company was renamed Truist Financial Corporation in December 2019. Truist offers retail and commercial banking, mortgages, credit cards, consumer and business lending, and wealth management. In 2023 and 2024, it sold its insurance brokerage subsidiary, Truist Insurance Holdings, in a two-step transaction: in April 2023 it sold a 20% stake to Stone Point Capital, and in May 2024 it sold its remaining ~80% to an investor group led by Stone Point Capital and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. The business now operates as TIH Insurance Holdings, LLC, as a separate company.
