Frequently asked questions about Netflix

Who do I call if Netflix is not working?

If Netflix isn’t working, try basic troubleshooting steps such as restarting your device or checking your internet connection. For specific error codes and solutions, visit the Netflix Help Center.

How do I fix my Netflix account?

For specific account issues, refer to the Netflix Help Center.

Can I share my Netflix account with family members in a different home?

This is governed by Netflix’s Extra Members feature and household verification requirements. The household policy has changed significantly and continues to generate a high volume of complaints as of 2026.

Will I get a refund if I cancel my Netflix subscription?

Netflix generally does not offer refunds for unused time after cancellation, and you will continue to have access until the end of your billing period. However, if you were charged in error or your account was unexpectedly reactivated after cancellation, you should contact Netflix Support, as refunds may be considered depending on the situation.

How do I pay Netflix if my payment is declined?

Update your payment method in your Netflix account settings to resolve payment issues.

What languages does Netflix customer service support?

Customer service is available in multiple languages depending on the region. Visit the Help Center for language availability in your area.

How do I cancel my Netflix subscription?

Log into your account, go to “Account Settings,” and select “Cancel Membership.” Follow the confirmation steps.

How can I fix Netflix streaming issues and improve video quality?

If you’re experiencing Netflix streaming issues such as buffering, poor video quality, or playback problems, there are several steps you can take to resolve them. First, check your internet connection to ensure it’s fast enough for streaming Netflix in HD or 4K. For a seamless streaming experience, Netflix recommends a minimum speed of 3 Mbps for SD, 5 Mbps for HD, and 25 Mbps for Ultra HD content. Clear your browser cache, restart your device, and ensure your Netflix app is up-to-date. If you’re still encountering issues, try switching to a different device, connecting to a stronger Wi-Fi signal, or adjusting your Netflix playback settings. For more help with Netflix troubleshooting, visit the Netflix help center for solutions specific to your device.

How do I upgrade my Netflix plan and change my subscription?

Log in to your Netflix account, go to the account settings, and click on “Change Plan.” Netflix offers three subscription tiers: Standard with Ads, Standard and Premium. Each offers different streaming qualities, such as HD and 4K. You can also switch between payment options or adjust your plan to fit your viewing needs, whether it’s for streaming movies, TV shows, or original content.

My TV keeps getting logged out of Netflix every day. How do I fix it?

Netflix’s household verification system periodically requires devices outside your “Netflix Household” to re-authenticate. If a TV in your home is logging you out repeatedly, navigate to “Account” and select “Manage Access and Devices” and verify your Netflix Household is set to your primary location. You can update the household from any device connected to your home internet.

Netflix is still charging me after I cancelled. What can I do?

First, verify your cancellation was completed, signing out of the app or deleting it does not cancel your account. Log in at netflix.com and go to “Account” and select “Manage Membership” to confirm your membership is listed as cancelled. Netflix generally does not issue refunds for past charges even when cancellation was attempted, so you may need to dispute the charges with your bank or credit card company if Netflix declines. Document every contact.

I was charged twice in one month after adding an Extra Member. Is that normal?

Yes, but it’s worth understanding why. When you add an Extra Member mid-billing cycle, Netflix charges a prorated fee immediately for the remainder of that billing period, in addition to your regular monthly charge. This results in two charges in a short window. Netflix does not reverse these prorated charges.

My kids can't watch Netflix at their other parent's house without being asked to update the household. What's the policy?

Netflix’s household policy requires all devices to periodically connect to the internet at your primary Netflix Household location (your home network). Devices that haven’t connected to your home network recently will prompt users to verify they’re traveling or to update the household — including children’s profiles. Netflix does not currently offer a separate “family household” option that spans two addresses. The only official workaround is for the child to use the “I’m traveling” option, which grants temporary access. If they visit the second location regularly, the app may stop accepting the travel option. Some customers have reported limited success contacting Netflix support, though the policy itself has not changed. This issue applies regardless of plan tier.

Can I get a refund if the content I subscribed for isn't available?

Netflix does not offer refunds based on content availability, and it does not offer free trials. Content libraries vary by region and change over time without notice. If you subscribed specifically to watch a title and found it unavailable, Netflix’s policy is that you can cancel at any time but won’t receive a refund for the current billing period.
