It offers high-yield online savings accounts and certificates of deposit. It has no physical branches, no checking accounts, no debit cards and no ATM access. Goldman Sachs launched the brand in 2016 and now operates it within its Asset and Wealth Management division. The brand is named for Marcus Goldman, who founded Goldman Sachs in 1869. Goldman stopped issuing new Marcus personal loans in 2023 and sold the existing loan book to other lenders.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs referral program
Marcus by Goldman Sachs runs a referral program called Marcus Referred. An existing customer and the new customer they refer each receive a Marcus Referred Bonus of 0.25% of the new customer’s Online Savings Account average daily balance, paid in installments over a 92-day period. Marcus describes the bonus as a Cash Bonus, not an APY. The maximum total Cash Bonus is 1.00%, which requires four referrals.
