AERCAR Rentals customer service policies
What are AERCAR Rentals' terms of use?
AERCAR’s terms and conditions cover all aspects of the rental agreement. All rentals include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with an excess deposit ranging from €800 for a mini car up to €2,000 for larger vehicles, blocked on a credit card at pickup. Customers can reduce or eliminate this excess by purchasing optional Excess Reduction Cover (€8–€15/day), Full Cover Insurance, or Extra Damage Waiver for tyres and glass. The fuel policy is full-to-full, with a €20 penalty for any fuel missing on return. Driving on the Turkish-controlled northern part of Cyprus is strictly prohibited and will invalidate all insurance. The minimum rental age is 21 and maximum is 75; drivers aged 21–24 or over 75 pay a €7.50/day surcharge. Adding a driver costs €4.50/day. One-way rentals between locations carry a €50 fee.

I already have CDW through my booking platform — why is AERCAR asking me to buy more insurance at the counter?
This is the most common complaint about AERCAR at pickup. Multiple travellers report being pressured to purchase AERCAR’s own insurance at the counter even when they already had CDW cover through a third-party booking platform. You are entitled to decline additional cover if you have documentation showing your existing CDW. Bring a printed copy of your booking voucher and read it carefully before you queue. If staff pressure you, calmly state your cover in writing. The basic CDW is already included in your rental price, but note that it comes with a deposit excess — review AERCAR’s own insurance tiers at aercar.com/page/Terms before you travel so you know what you are and are not covered for.
How long will I wait for the shuttle bus from the airport?
Several reviewers report waiting 20–40 minutes for the shuttle bus at Larnaca airport. AERCAR is an off-airport operator — pickup is not at the terminal. Call the relevant branch as soon as you clear customs: Larnaca +357 24080730, Paphos +357 26080730. Give them your flight number at booking time so they can track delays. If you have waited more than 20 minutes, call immediately rather than waiting further.
Will I get my deposit back, and how long does it take?
AERCAR blocks the deposit excess on your credit card at pickup — ranging from €800 to €2,000 depending on vehicle class. If no damage is found on return, the block is released, though your bank may take several days to reflect this. Some customers report difficulty getting deposits returned when disputes over minor damage arise. Protect yourself by photographing the car thoroughly — all panels, tyres, and the interior — before driving away, and show the photos to a staff member. Get any pre-existing damage noted on your rental agreement in writing before you sign. If your deposit is not released within 14 days of return, contact info@aercar.com in writing and keep a copy.
Can I drive to North Cyprus?
AERCAR’s terms explicitly prohibit driving the rented vehicle in areas under Turkish occupation or in close proximity to the Green Line. Doing so will invalidate all insurance cover. This is a hard contractual restriction, not a recommendation. If you cross into the north and the vehicle is damaged or stolen, you will bear the full cost. Several reviewers report being refused a rental entirely when they mentioned plans to visit North Cyprus.
What happens if the car breaks down or has a mechanical problem?
Call the emergency number printed at the top of your rental agreement immediately. AERCAR’s terms state that if you do not follow the correct breakdown or accident procedure, all insurance cover becomes invalid. Do not attempt repairs without AERCAR’s authorisation. Keep copies of all documentation. Several reviewers report that when they called AERCAR for breakdowns, a replacement vehicle was sent fairly quickly, even to remote parts of the island. For accidents, a police report or incident report from an authorised AERCAR staff member is required.
How can I contact AERCAR Rentals customer service?
Call +357-250-80720 or email info@aercar.com.
What is the shuttle and pick-up process?
AERCAR Rentals provides shuttle services from airports to rental locations, but some customers report needing to call the company upon arrival for pickup instructions, especially at Larnaca and Paphos Airports. The wait times may vary.
What is the returns and refunds process?
The refund of deposits is generally quick, but it’s best to confirm policies upon booking to avoid delays.
