Balloting starts today for the 2018 Elliott Readers’ Choice Customer Service Awards, brought to you by Allianz Travel Insurance, an annual recognition of companies that offer outstanding customer support and service.

Both the nominees and winners are determined by readers of Elliott.org, a leading consumer advocacy site. Last year’s award recipients included TripAdvisor, Royal Caribbean, Hertz and Uber.

The idea behind the awards is simple: Customers know who has the best service. But there’s only one way to find out — you have to ask them.

This year’s categories feature the best airlines, car manufacturers, wireless carriers, and subscription TV services, among others. Nominees include AT&T, Marriott, Expedia and Disney.

For 2018, there are also three new award categories:

The Above and Beyond Award sponsored by Insuremyrentalcar.com and curated by good-news columnist Andrew Der. A recognition of companies that have gone “above and beyond” to help their customers in 2017.

The 140 Award sponsored by Generali Global Assistance (formerly CSA Travel Protection) and nominated by readers. The “140s,” named after Twitter’s traditional 140 character limit, recognize excellence in social media responsiveness and customer service.

The Service Recovery Award nominated by readers, which celebrates the recovery process from customer service mishaps. Consumers choose the companies that have made the best recovery in 2017.

The Elliott Readers’ Choice Customer Service Awards started in 2005 as a recognition of the top travel companies and bloggers. In 2015, it shifted to a readers’ choice survey focused exclusively on customer service. Since then, the award has been recognized as the premier customer service award in its category.

FocusPoint International's CAP Travel Medical and Security Assistance Plan comes standard with a robust mobile app that includes destination-based health, safety, and security intelligence, COVID-19 specific information, a one-touch assistance button, and much more. CAP includes unlimited 24/7 advice for a long list of travel mishaps often overlooked by traditional travel insurance. CAP also provides a no-cost response to incidents of riots, strikes, and civil commotion, natural disasters, with medical evacuation to a home hospital of choice, should you suffer from a medical mishap resulting in hospitalization. Indemnity to cover all CAP financial risk is reinsured 100% by AM Best, A rated underwriters at Lloyds, London.

This year’s awards are sponsored by Allianz Travel Insurance, Boingo, Enterprise, Generali Global Assistance (formerly CSA Travel Protection), Insuremyrentalcar.com and Southwest Airlines.

Balloting for the 2018 Elliott Readers’ Choice Customer Service Awards runs through Nov. 30. Readers can review a list of previous winners and cast their vote online. Winners will be announced in early December.
