The Boston Globe

The Boston Globe was founded in Boston, MA in 1872, and has a current subscriber base of nearly 250,000.  It is the oldest daily newspaper in Boston, and is the 25th most read daily paper in the United States.  The Globe was privately held until 1973 when it was purchased by The New York Times for a record $1.1 billion.  The Globe was purchased from the Times in 2013 by John W. Henry, owner of the Boston Red Sox, for $70 million.
