Do you like to fly just for the sake of being on the plane? Do you proudly refer to yourself as an aviation nerd? Does jet fuel run through your veins?
If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, and if you also like to help people, then I’ve got an opportunity for you.
We’re looking for a few good airline experts for our new forum. Experts, to quote Liam Neeson, with a “very particular set of skills.”
We’re looking for advocates, to be exact. People who know about the airline industry and want to help others.
Here’s what you’d be doing:
• Fielding questions from infrequent air travelers, who usually don’t understand the basics of the airline industry. They’re often confused about issues such as codesharing, frequent flier miles, and fees. They need someone to make sense of it all. Someone like you.
• Helping these passengers navigate the often Byzantine world of fares and restrictions. Sometimes, even the most experienced insider can be foiled by the complex rules and restrictions that the airline industry puts in place to optimize its revenues. You’ll be the consumers’ guide, their sensei.
• Our airline advocates will also try to help these air travelers extricate themselves from a problem. We’re not here to explain why an airline does what it does (although you will probably have an opportunity to share that information). Rather, our advocates are there to guide readers to a resolution. So if you’re interested in helping air travelers have a better trip, then this is an opportunity for you.
We’ve recruited one of this site’s top airline specialists to be our lead advocate. He’ll be overseeing the entire airline team and ensuring that every question gets answered, every problem addressed. If you join us, you would be one of the team members in the trenches, helping save the day.
Our help forums are new and still under development. I’m proud of the helpful and polite attitude our advocates have embraced while trying to assist in our readers. If you’re looking for an affirming place where your industry expertise is recognized and appreciated, I hope you’ll consider being a part of this adventure.
Interested? Please send me an email and I’ll send you the details.
I couldn’t mention Liam without also sharing the trailer for Taken 3. Good luck.
