I once booked a hotel on Travelocity that later turned out to be a timeshare, not a hotel. The confirmation number they gave me was useless, and I couldn't call any hotel to straighten it out because there was no hotel to call. Every other hotel in the area was booked solid, so the trip had to be cancelled. Their employees aren't "customer champions" and never were. The front line customer service monkeys would simply refuse to take the issue to a higher level and that's the end of that. So, no more Travelocity for me, ever. Ever.

I do believe that this person went through all the necessary steps as you put it "worked your way up the hierarchy and kept getting a series of "nos." This has been my experience with Travelocity: very unfriendly and incompetent customer service reps, who are trained to put you on hold for "2-3 minutes" and check with you in half an hour to see if you are still there. They messed up the destination country on my order, refused to correct it and ended up correcting it to another wrong country. The customer service is non-existent in Travelocity and I would recommend to anyone to be aware of it. I made 11 phone calls, spent 5 hours on hold all together, sent 4 emails, to no success
