Unbelievable! I myself am in the same situation. Flew from LA to Vegas for business and arrived w/out my luggage. I had over $3400 worth of items and it has been over a month now w/out a resloution. However, they are stating I will receive a $1800 reimbursement check for lost luggage and items. This is NOT anything close to what I'm missing. So distraught. I really am at loss for words. After reading your comment and you stating, "My former friend said if they hadn't found it by now, it was likely stolen. If it wasn't, when they read the description of everything in it, they probably will." is mind-blowing.
I had the skycap SW employee take my bag but never placed it on the belt behind him. He then, proceeded to escort me through the airport. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I was so uncomfortable and didnt know how to handle the situation. I'm sure this was his way of deterring me. At the time I didnt think anything of it, other than he was a weirdo trying to hit on me. Yeah, I guess I was the fool. How was I supposed to know any better?!? Im trusting a SW employee with my luggage for my flight.
I, as well, have heard that the SW employees steal luggage or friends have had their luggage stolen. I cant believe this. Arent there surveillance cameras outside the airport, in the airport, around the airport?!?!?! CMON! I will not be happy until I know what happened to my luggage. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! You messed with the wrong Jersey girl.

My 2 children ( adopted from Korea) just flew to Seoul for a heritage tour to find their "roots". This was a college graduation gift that we had planned for years. They took a southwest flight from BWI to Seattle, then on Asiana air to Seoul. Southwest lost all of their luggage. In the luggage was alos the gifts to the orphanage they came from, to the care givers at the clinics they were born at etc. NEVER FLY SWA IF YOU ARE CONNECTING TO AN INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT. THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR YOU EXCEPT GIVE YOU A RUN AROUND. THEY DON'T FLY TO KOREA SO THERE ISN'T ANYWAY (they say) for them to get the bags to ypu when ( if) found. Don't fly SWA you take your chances f having your trip ruined with their incompetence and stress in dealing with them.

I recently flew from Chicago to Las Vegas for a weekend for the marathon. I then was flying to Louisiana for a week of business meetings. Needless to say, I had very high end sports and work clothes.... I arrived in Vegas only to find my luggage never made it. I rec'd the same assurances my luggage would be found. I rec'd the same assurances from a former friend who was a supervisor of the baggage guys. Needless to say, it's now been 8 days and no luggage. SW only tracks for 5 days and then stops. I called to find out what had happened and they told me I needed to call corporate myself and file yet another report and provide all the same information and more: a listing of everything in the bag, including brand and description. My former friend said if they hadn't found it by now, it was likely stolen. If it wasn't, when they read the description of everything in it, they probably will. I have been flying for 40 years and this is the first bag I have had that was completely lost. I was on a SW buddy pass. The luggage is not insured and only manually tracked. The policy is very, very irresponsible, as was SW's concern for me, the passenger. I was never told anything of the lovely policy until it was too late. I was told, "it's written on the back of the ticket". I lost well over $1.5k of clothes and shoes. I was shocked to find out SW does not scan their luggage at all. They know it was checked in for the flight and that was it. This very bad policy leaves the door open for anyone in the airport, employee or not, to steal the luggage. Oh, and I cannot complain as the person who gave me the buddy pass can lose all pass privileges. I will never check baggage on SW again (this was my second time) and likely will never fly with them again. 1.5 million miles on American and never even close to a policy this inconsiderate of the customer... You get what you pay for, as always.
