I rented a car from Hertz in Irvine CA. My flight was delayed by about an hour. I was scheduled to pick up the car at 3, but I didn't get the car until 4:30. When I returned the car at 4:30 the next day the computer charged me an extra fee. I had to go inside where the manager removed the charge and recommended that I get the paperwork updated if I am late in picking up the car. For example, my Thanksgiving trip has me picking up my car at about 6:30 pm. I booked the return time at the end of the trip as 6:00 pm, even though my flight departs at 5:55 pm. I'll likely drop the car as early as 3:30 pm, but it helps to know that I won't be charged a fee if I hit a bit of traffic and get there at 4:15.
