The first was a missing pilot. Boarding was done, but the captain was still not at the plane. Once the first officer realized that we were going to need to wait for a reserve pilot to arrive, they let us all off the plane. The second was a mechanical problem. Although boarding had already started, they stopped the process and let those who had already boarded get off. I knew people who were trapped in their rooms during that. If they had been on the ground floor at the time, however, they probably would have died.
