		<description>I had two recent flight experiences where the airline specifically did not trap us on the plane.

The first was a missing pilot. Boarding was done, but the captain was still not at the plane. Once the first officer realized that we were going to need to wait for a reserve pilot to arrive, they let us all off the plane.

The second was a mechanical problem. Although boarding had already started, they stopped the process and let those who had already boarded get off.</description>

		<description>I would say the Dupont Plaza Hotel fire (arson) in Puerto Rico on New Years Eve 1986 was pretty notable as well.  I knew people who were trapped in their rooms during that.  If they had been on the ground floor at the time, however, they probably would have died.</description>
