One thing that I've learned over the years is to read the terms and conditions of any travel offer. Read it and not just scroll down and click "I agree"; this is even more important where the terms and conditions are NOT listed for you to read and click "I agree", and there is a little statement that says something like "your purchase of this offer signifies that you agree to all the terms and conditions (link) of this deal".... or something to that effect. The harder it is to find the terms and conditions of an offer, the more important it is to read them!!

One thing to note - if you're going to a convention and choose to book a room at the host hotel at a lower rate than through the group, send the group an email and let them know that you're still staying there. This info will benefit the group and ensure you get anything that is being sent to the attendees (newsletters, etc).

Mark hits a key point. He uses something often. I can readily evaluate deals for things I buy often enough. It is the one-time purchases that are a problem.

i Disagree with the post on one restaurant Web site offered a $25 gift certificate for only $2. I use these all the time and it saves me money. This weekend i am going to a place with a $50.00 cert i paid $4.00 for i know i have to spend 100.00 but we are meeting frends there and the bill bill will be just over 100.00 so i save 44.00 or 11.00 off each meal now thats a deal

These are amazing tips. Using social media tools is my favorite, I have received answers to questions by throwing them out on twitter more quickly than I can search for them myself.
