I'm a United Global Services member. Thanks for the informative article. I didn't really know anything about this designation. I was informed in 2003 that I'm a member and had people often ask me how to join. I must say, they really go out of their way to make me comfortable. Last week, I was traveling from New York with my partner. He was on a coach award ticket and I was in First, upgraded automatically from the purchased Business Class ticket.

We went to the Red Carpet Club at JFK and I had hoped he could join me in the International First Class Lounge. Having had difficulties before, I wasn't confident. The woman behind the desk almost tripped over herself, graciously inviting us into this very exclusive lounge. She said something like: "Mr. Scott, you're Global Services, you can have just about anything you want."
