Chris, of all the questions you asked, the last one was the best. I often go to Colorado in the summer to go hiking, because I don't know how to ski and am not sure I'd like downhill skiing, anyway. But Nordic skiing sounds great!

Thanks for an interesting idea on how to spend some time off this winter!

And I just want to say one more thing: Snowfall anywhere in Colorado gets people excited about snow. We all remember the Monday Night Football games where it was a blizzard and people started making reservations.

That's really all that needs to be said by the leader of a company who moved the entire operation to the Front Range, nearly 70 miles away from his nearest ski lift.

You don't need to make it sound like you're saying anything about the snow (or lying about it, when someone from Vail sees him on TV and looks out his window and sees no snow) AT ALL. Tell the story about what gets people so excited. "Snow is falling and everyone is excited".

It's transparent, it's open, and it tells the story we all want to hear: Ski season is coming. Not here today, save for two resorts, but coming soon.

Kind of funny how he brags about the snow, yet none of the ski resorts experienced the snow that the front range did.

It's a sham.

5-7", and a normal nice amount of snow, but he goes on Bloomberg and basically carefully tells a story that isn't technically untrue but it's also hype that if it were really ski season people would remember--sort of like the snow reports that are usually padded at some areas owned by Vail.

Katz is spinning this here very hard, and I think that hurts the ski industry when the CEO helps the marketing department cross the line.

My family bought a timeshare at Hyatt's Main Street Station in Breckenridge, CO this year. The prices were just too good to pass up and its something we have been thinking about for a while.

While I normally do not ski / snowboard, I love spending time up in Breckenridge just to get away from all the stress and such of the city. Mountain towns like Breck & Vail are such quaint little towns and great places to spend time just relaxing by a nice fire or soaking in the town's and all they have to offer.

Frankly, we enjoy Breckenridge just as much in the summer months as the winter months. And I must say that I agree with Rob Katz that "If Colorado becomes Texas, we all have a lot more to think about than skiing." That is so true.
