Just returned from Tampa, FL. My flights to and from were great on AirTran...heck only ran an hour late on each leg ... not bad for them. When I got to Tampa I had a reservation with Pay-Less Car Rental ... and yes, they kept their promise with the car ... now the fun part ... first, they tried to talk me into taking a much larger car at a much larger price ... kind of normal for the rental car industry ... Now the real fun ... the insurance ... I said I declined all of that ... and the guy at the counter tried every thing from saying if I get one scratch it will cost me my retirment account ... also said that I HAD to take their insurance because they would NOT take American Express dealing if I had a problem ... then he wrote in BIG letters that I would have to pay $500 a day if the car had to be in the shop if I had an accident ... I kept saying no and his voice kept getting higher and louder ... Finally he realized that I was not to be suckered and handed me the keys. After all of this I was really interested in how the turn-in would go. So, I left my destination ealy to return to the airport ... and do admit that the turn in was fast and easy. Much to my surprise. Would I rental there again? Yep, because it was a great price ... only thing I would change is try and get into Tampa earlier and hopt that this guy in not working .
