Chris:
My partner Judith and I spend the winter on Long Boat Key and very much liked the Sarasota area. Of course the daily sunset view was always cool.
We joined Mote marine and love it. We also volunteered at the Save Our Seabirds sanctuary, which is right across from them.. They share a common parking lot. It is a contribute what you want venue and has birds that are being rehabbed, (we took part , cleaning the habitats and feeding the birds, as well as, in helping release pelicans and a great blue heron) plus others that are not able to be rehabbed but arestill cared for there. A great experience and a nice place to visit.. BTW next time you are in the area you may want to go see "Snooty" who is the oldest living Manatee known and resides in the Museum in Bradenton.
I expect we will go back to the area next winter.
Keep up the good posts.
Regards, Ivan
