ok article chris ;) but here are some shelling tips from a sanibel local.
1. already be on the beach when the sun comes up.
2. wear shoes or be prepared for the consequences.
3. bring a plastic bag to carry home your prize finds.
4. best shelling is a)in the summer b)at low tide c)after a big storm.
5. to find the good ones, don't walk the beach facing into the water. walk in the shallow water where the waves break at the shore, staring back at the beach. this will not only put you closer to the good shells, but as the water pulls away from the shore, drawing shells back with it, it pulls them right to your waiting hands.
6. when the beach starts to heat up, go get a margarita!
