Not another wheeled carry-on, I thought when this Briggs & Riley luggage landed on my front door step last week.
No, it isn’t.
I took the Carry-On Garment Bag on Wheels (#U-75) for a test spin this weekend, and it is definitely not your average bag on wheels.
The designers of this innovative luggage obviously took their time listening to business travelers. There are several spaces, including a garment compartment, a removable wet/dry pocket for toiletries, a laundry chute and a shoe pocket.
Plus, there’s a slot and separate carrying case for a laptop. No more fumbling around at the TSA checkpoint, thanks very much.
I really liked the outside zipper pockets for easy access of your itinerary and cell phone or PDA. Most of all, it fits into the overhead compartment without any trouble.
The luggage handles like a pair of inline skates, negotiating tight turns effortlessly. (You can thank its patented Outsider Handle for the maneuverability.)
My only complaints? It comes in just two colors: black and olive. And the price: about $300. (Ouch!)
Other than that, it’s the perfect overnight bag.

I’ve been using Briggs and Riley luggage since 1998. I travel 150+ days a year, much of it by air on multiple short-hops where my bags are handled several times. Briggs and Riley bags hold up well (except for their plastic corner protectors, their weakest link) and their lifetime no-questions-asked repair/refurbishment guarantee is the best in the business (better than Tumi by far). I’ve had my bags fixed free many times from just routine wear and tear (not normally covered by any warranty). They are a first-class organization and their bags are my favorites by far! I’m looking forward to seeing what this new U-75 bag has to offer!
