Two more overboard!

March 26, 2007

Were they re-enacting that scene from Titanic, where they stand at the bow of the ship and scream, ‘I’m the king of the world!’? We may never know. But what we do know is that an American couple fell off their balcony of the Grand Princess and into the Gulf of Mexico last weekend.

And miraculously, they survived.

I’ll spare you any more Titanic references, except one: According to my friends over at the Safe Cruise blog, this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Passengers are going overboard in record numbers, and the cruise lines seem powerless to stop it.

I’ve written about the man-overboard problem on several occasions, and there doesn’t seem to be an easy solution.

I have just one word of advice for the lucky couple. Get ready to do the morning talk-show circuit. You’re gonna be stars!
