Search engine drive

July 15, 2006

I can hardly believe it, but the statistics don’t lie. Thanks to my search engine optimization makeover, I’m ranked in the top 10 on Google for the search term “travel blogging” and in the top 20 for the term “travel blog.” On Yahoo, I’m at number 6.

Before I began this exercise, I wasn’t even in the top 1,000. Anywhere.

Page visits are holding steady, but here’s an encouraging sign: The number of new visitors is up to 56 percent versus 53 percent one week ago.

Thank you, SEO Sally, for the Internet marketing strategy advice.

The next hurdle is syndicating my content. That’s a tough one, and I haven’t come up with a workable solution yet because it would mean developing new columns. I don’t have the bandwidth for that.

I need to give it some more thought. Look for another update in a week.
