after american wiped out my ff points claiming they could not reach me I asked why they did not mail me anything...they said it would cost a stamp.
I will not fly them if given a chance not recommend them.my travell agent was not surprised.

Come on, this one is easy. There are geologic forces at play here called plate tectonics that are making the cities move closer to each other.

I would be upset about this if the difference were significant. A mile isn't going to matter one way or the other unless you fly constantly. I have more important issues to worry about, like my flights being on time.

Regardless of whether AA know whether it's using land or nautical miles, of course AA is short changing its customers. Every airline is shortchanging its customers.

BTW: I don't know if AA can budget it's outstanding miles properly. They're funnymoney and virtual until you use them.

I'm with Fred. If you go by the generally cited rule of each mile i worth 2 cents, a missing mile means you've lost 2 cents. Should the airlines make sure that they are consistent in this area? Yes, of course. Are there bigger worries to be concerned about. Yes.

I vote that AA worry more about its viability and business model and only then worry about the mismatched mileage.

um...I just checked my recent mileage posting vs. the electronic timetable:

DFW - LAX 1233 mi (Credited 1235 miles)
dfw- sea 1659 mi (Credited 1659 miles)
YVR -DFW 1753 mi (Credited 1754 miles)
dfw - ord 802 mi (credited 802 miles)
DFW- DTW 986 mi (credited 987 miles)

in my case, I actually received MORE miles (8 in total) than the electronic timetable. I think there isn't much to see here. Let's move on to real issues.
