What's the book corporate America doesn't want you to read? Find out now -- or you could get scammed.

I need you

There aren’t many places online where you can find quality, commercial-free, consumer-focused travel journalism. I can think of maybe a handful, and I read them all religiously.

It is even more unusual to find something that is completely free — no strings attached.

I’ve resisted the urge to put the continent on this site behind a firewall and begin charging for subscriptions. Or even to go “commercial” and start churning out fluff that will attract big-name advertisers.

So how do I keep this going?

Well, that’s where you come in. Just like public radio and television turns to its audience for support, as of today, I’m offering an opportunity to help pay some of the bills.

No hard sell. If you’re a regular reader of this site and newsletter, I’m inviting you to become a supporter.

If you like the fearless reporting and the incisive commentary found here, please consider lending a hand.

Here are the details.

Christopher Elliott is the author of Scammed: How to Save Your Money and Find Better Service in a World of Schemes, Swindles, and Shady Deals. Critics have called it “eye-opening” and “inspiring” — it’ll “grab your attention and won’t let go.” Order your copy now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or iTunes.

Why not ads? There are at least 20 ads by Google every time I go to any web page whether or not the page sponsors them. I’m sure your readers are sophisticated enough to know ads are a part of the web. I think you are being too noble. The nice thing about ads is that one can ignore them and they pay for expanded web content. My advice is ad away.
