US
Airways Attendants Sue Airline
The employees are trying to prevent airline management from executing
what they call "an illegal process in the involuntary furlough
of 552 flight attendants." The flight attendant's union accuses US
Airways management of making "a public spectacle of asking
for employee cooperation in turning the airline around." AFA

"Thuggish" management selling assets
Looks as if it's almost over for US Airways (or at least its beleaguered
management team). It didn't help that rival Southwest made more inroads
in Philadelphia yesterday, with the 76ers, Flyers and Phillies
making the maverick carrier their
"official" airline. Never mind that Southwest doesn't actually
fly to the US Airways hub yet. |

World's
Biggest Cruise Ship Sets Sail
The Queen has named the world's largest cruise ship, the 550 million
pound Queen Mary 2, amid fanfare seven weeks after tragedy struck
at its French shipyard and 15 people died. The ship's baptism before
2,000 guests at the southern English port of Southampton, accompanied
by fireworks and the strains of the Royal Marines Band, contrasted with
the subdued sendoff the vessel received as it left France two weeks ago.

That's a helluva boat, folks. Who cares that these aren't
the best of times for the cruise business? |

U-Haul
Rejects Ford Explorers
U-Haul International Inc. is forbidding its stores to rent
trailers to customers who plan to tow with the Ford Explorer, saying it
no longer can afford to defend product liability lawsuits linked to the
best-selling SUV. The unusual move by U-Haul comes after the Explorer
appeared to have overcome lingering image problems associated with
the Firestone tire debacle. Detroit

"Excessive" lawsuit costs cited
Hmmm, maybe it's time to sell that Explorer and buy something
safer. Like a Pinto. |

And finally ... the boards are buzzing with confessional postings
from travelers who steal soap, toiletries, trinkets and other items
of value from hotel rooms and planes. This, of course, has been going
on for years. But
a guilty conscience is hard to soothe. Posted 6:35
