About Travel Notes

Here's a brief guide to Travel Notes, the award-winning blog, including a few tips on how to read the blog and a list of frequently asked questions.

News is delineated by a headline followed by a short paragraph summarizing the story. Some of the content is also boldfaced for quick reading.

Backgrounders are one-sentence links posted below news items. There are two kinds of backgrounders. The ones preceded by a "•" are articles directly related to the news item and were recently published. Those noted with a "" may have been posted earlier and are featured in order to offer perspective on a given event.

Analysis is in italics.

Attribution and posting time are noted at the end of each item. The source is the publication or broadcast in which the news item first appeared. The time stamp is the actual time the item posted on the blog. If there is an update, it will also be noted. All times are EDT.
